Cougars Improve to 3-0; Defeat New Paltz,
2-0
New Paltz, N.Y. (9/8/07) - The Kean University
field hockey team improved to 3-0 as they defeated SUNY-New Paltz,
2-0, Saturday afternoon in New Paltz, N.Y.
Both teams battled in the first half, and despite holding the
Hawks (0-3) to no shots and taking 11 of their own, the Cougars
(3-0) and New Paltz headed into halftime tied a zero.
Kean once again came out shooting in the second half and scored
what would be the game-winner at 52:37 as Alli Green (West
Deptford, N.J.) took a pass from Amie Hoch (Egg
Harbor Twp, N.J.) to make the score, 1-0. The
Cougars added an insurance goal at 67:07 as sophomore
Brittany Gibbs (West Deptford, N.J.) scored her
team-leading third goal of the year off an assist from sophomore
Marcy Miller (Sewell, N.J.).
The Hawks had just two shots on the afternoon with one save from
sophomore Jenni Barry (Berkeley Heights, N.J.).
Kean will return to action on Wednesday, September
12th as they take on Stevens Institute of Technology at
7 p.m.
