Second Half Lifts Rowan Past Kean,
2-1
Glassboro, N.J. (10/15/08) - Two second half
goals lifted Rowan University to a 2-1 win over Kean
University in men's soccer action Wednesday evening at the Rowan
Soccer Field.
Rowan, who improves to 6-7-3 overall and 1-4-1 in the NJAC held a
slight edge in shots, 14-11. KU falls to 4-10-1 overall and
0-6 in NJAC play with the loss.
Kean got on the board in the first half as Mark Wallis
(New Gretna, N.J.) took a feed from both Rob Sopko
(Lake Como, N.J.) (pictured left) and Andres
Berriel (Las Piedras, Uruguay) at 35:40. The score
would stay that way through the first half.
Rowan tied things up at 54:54 as Tommy Orr (Delran,
N.J.) headed the ball of a corner by Mike Pascale (Toms
River, N.J.). RU went ahead for good as Jay
Vigilante (Manasquan, N.J.) scored an unassisted goal at
63:20.
Keeper Alfredo Oquendo (North Plainfield, N.J.)
tallied four saves in the loss while the Profs' Charlie
Cunliffe (Lakewood, N.J.) recorded three.
The Cougars will return to NJAC action on Saturday, October
18th when they travel to Rutgers-Newark for a 7 p.m.
matchup.
