#14 Rowan Blanks Kean, 4-0

Wilson (Succasunna, N.J.) headed what would be the winning
goal in the first half as #14 Rowan University shutout Kean
University, 4-0, Wednesday evening at Kean Alumni Stadium.
The win improves Rowan to 10-0-1 overall and 5-0-1 in NJAC
action while the loss drops KU to 9-4 and 3-3 in conference play.
In a tight first half, the Profs broke through at 31:39 as
Wilson headed the ball of a cross from junior Mandy Silvesti
(Turnersville, N.J.).
Rowan then exploded with three goals in a three minute span
early in the second half to seal the victory. Sophomore
Michelle Carrocino (Mickleton, N.J.) got things started
with a penalty kick goal at 51:19. One minute later sophomore
Jess Babice (Groveville, N.J.) notched an unassisted goal
of a deflection, while Carrocino rounded out the scoring with her
second goal of the night on a breakaway at 54:18.
Rowan's Sarah Volkomer (Glen Rock, N.J.) recorded five
saves in the shutout while KU's Leandra Russo (Galloway,
N.J.) had four in the loss.
RU, who edged Kean 13-9 in shots, will be back in action on
Saturday, October 18th as they host NJCU at 7 p.m.
Kean will square off against Rutgers-Newark on Saturday as well at
7 p.m. during homecoming festivities.
