Stockton Edges Women's Soccer,
2-1
Pomona, N.J. (10/25/08) - Host Richard Stockton
netted two goals to edge Kean University, 2-1, this afternoon in
women's soccer action.
The loss drops KU to 10-6 overall and 4-4 in the NJAC while the
Ospreys have clinched second place in the NJAC with a 7-1 record
and an overall mark of 15-2-1.
Senior Amanda Pitts (Rahway, N.J.) (pictured
right) netted the lone goal for the Cougars off a pass from junior
Jenna Godwin (Kingwood, N.J.) in the
53rd minute.
Samantha Bean (Manchester, N.J.) scored the match's
first goal off a pass from Melissa Scully (Gloucester,
N.J.) at 38:21 for a 1-0 advantage at the break.
Leah Pocoroba (Galloway, N.J.) then recorded what would be
the game-winner in the 47th minute off a pass from
Laura O'Shea (Petersburg, N.J.).
Sophomore Leandra Russo (Galloway, N.J.)
stopped five shots on the afternoon for KU.
The Cougars will close out the regular season on Wednesday,
October 29th as they host Ramapo College at 7:30 p.m.
