Women's Soccer Strikes Albright,
3-1
Union, N.J. (10/9/08) - The Kean University women's soccer
team picked up their ninth win of the season with early strikes as
they defeated visiting Albright College, 3-1 , Thursday evening at
Kean Alumni Stadium.
The win improves the Cougars to 9-3 overall while the Lady Lions
fall to 6-5.
Senior Nicole Tahan (Clifton, N.J.) (pictured
right) got the Cougars on the board early at the 1:44 mark after
sending a hard shot 15 yards out from the right side directly into
the upper left hand corner of the net. Junior Jenna
Godwin (Kingwood, N.J.) got the play going with a feed
across the field at around the 40 yard line.
KU struck again at 8:34 as freshman Corey Pannone
(Brick, N.J.) headed the ball off a corner from sophomore
Sam Ciccone (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.). KU
held the 2-0 advantage into the half.
Quickly out of the gate again, the Cougars scored in the
46th minute as sophomore Randi Vizoco (Erial,
N.J.) netted Kean's third goal of the night off a
double-assist by freshmen Ashley DiRocco (Cranford,
N.J.) (pictured left) and Leigha Czerwinski
(Neptune, N.J.).
The Lady Lions ended the shutout at 57:26 as junior Kimberly
Spataro (South Brunswick, N.J.) bent the ball in directly off
a corner kick for Albright's only score of the night.
Keepers Olivia Guilano (Nutley, N.J.) and Keeley
Peltz (Ocean City, N.J.) combined for 16 saves in the loss.
Kean held a commanding 30-2 advantage in shots while also taking
nine more corner kicks (11-2).
KU returns to action on Wednesday, October 15th when
they host Rowan University at 7:30 p.m.
