Field Hockey Falls to #14 WPU
in NJAC Action
WAYNE, N.J. (11/4/08) - The Kean University
field hockey team dropped a 3-1 decision to host William Paterson
University in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Tuesday
evening.
The 14th ranked Pioneers (14-3, 4-2 NJAC) scored two
second-half goals after the Cougars (13-5, 3-2 NJAC) had tied the
game up early in the second half.
William Paterson took a 1-0 lead early in the game when junior
Chelsea Winkelspecht (Sicklerville, N.J.) scored off the
assist from senior Meghan Hall (Turnersville, N.J.) at
10:55.
The Cougars tied the game early in the second half after being
awarded a penalty stroke that junior Julie Bachovchin
(Piscataway, N.J.) converted in the 47th
minute.
Less than four minutes later, the Pioneers took the lead for
good on Winckelspecht's second goal of the game, this time off a
pass from Jodi Feriod (Glassboro, N.J.).
The Pioneers added the insurance goal late in the game, as
Feriod scored the unassisted goal with just 3:25 remaining.
Sophomore Ashlie Berghold (Boyertown, Pa.) made
one save for the Cougars.
Kean closes out the regular season against its fifth-straight
nationally ranked opponent, when the Cougars host 10th
ranked Rowan University in NJAC action on Thursday, November 6, at
7:30 p.m.
