Leathem, Lukascko Lead Kean Over Mt. Ida,

Scott Leathem (Fair Lawn, N.J.) led the way for
the Cougars with three goals as KU picked up their first win of
their spring trip by defeating Mount Ida College, 11-9, Saturday
afternoon.
Kean (4-2) overcame a pair of three-goal deficits in the first
half to defeat Mt. Ida College in the first game of the tournament.
Brett Conley scored twice and set up another score as
the Mavericks jumped out to a 4-2 lead 32 seconds into the second
period. Kean responded with a 5-1 run and grabbed its first lead
with 7:38 remaining in the second period on a man-up goal by
Leathem.
The Cougars used a 4-1 run in the third period to build a 10-7
lead with 13:04 remaining in the game and Mt. Ida was never able to
get closer than two goals.
Leathem (pictured right) led KU with three goals while adding an
assist, while Dennis Lukacsko (Linocln Park, N.J.)
had two scores and set up another.
Senior Dave Nichols (Florham Park, N.J.) had 15
saves for the Cougars, while Matt Vernick stopped 18 shots
for the Mavericks.
Conley had three goals and an assist to lead Mt. Ida.
Kean will face Medialle College at Sunday at 11 a.m. local time.
