Cougars Cruise Past Castleton, 21-5

C.J. Gannon (Morris Plains, N.J.) tallied a
game-high four goals as well as an assist to lead the Cougars to a
21-5 victory over visiting Castleton State College in men's
lacrosse action Tuesday afternoon at Kean Alumni Stadium.
Kean (7-3) was also led by sophomore Scott Leathem (Fair
Lawn, N.J.) who registered three goals as well as five
assists for a total of eight points on the afternoon.
Castleton (3-4) was led by freshman Michael DelDotto (Reading,
Mass.) who recorded two goals in the loss.
The Cougars got all the offense they would need in the first two
periods as they recorded 12 goals. KU in fact scored the
first five goals of the contest beginning with senior
Dennis Lukacsko (Lincoln Park, N.J.) on an assist
from Gannon with 12:28 remaining in the first period. The
Spartans broke up the shutout with 1:55 left in the first period as
Kirk Bolduc (Lewiston, Maine) scored unassisted.
KU held a 12-2 advantage at the break.
Offensively junior Eric Gillar (Milltown, N.J.)
had two goals and three assists while teammate Matt Palomba
(Bayonne, N.J.) (pictured right) had two goals and an
assist for the Cougars who held a 47-27 advantage in shots.
In net, senior Dave Nichols (Florham Park,
N.J.), sophomore John Gesumaria (Cranford,
N.J.) and freshman Greg Egan (Gibbsboro,
N.J.) combined for 11 saves in the win.
Freshman Christopher Wynne (Suffern, N.Y.) tallied 12
saves in the loss for the Spartans.
Kean will return to action on Saturday, April 5th
when they open conference action against Maritime College at 5 p.m.
