Cougars Dominate Past Stockton,
18-8
Pomona, N.J. (4/12/08) - The Kean University
men's lacrosse team (8-5, 1-2) dominated Richard Stockton College
(6-5, 1-1) in Skyline Conference action and won by the final of
18-8 Saturday afternoon.
C.J. Gannon (Morris Plains, N.J.) led the Cougars with
five goals and one assist while Anthony Bertucci (Edison,
N.J.) (pictured right) contributed three goals and three
assists. Eric Gillar (Milltown, N.J.) also
scored three goals while Kean goalie Dave Nichols (Florham
Park, N.J.) made 13 saves.
Matt Bell (Jackson, N.J.) paced Stockton with
three goals and one assist for four points while Josh Dybus
(Lyndhurst, N.J.) tallied one goal and one assist for the
Ospreys.
In the first quarter, four different goal scorers found the back
of the net for Kean to offset two Stockton goals by
Bell and give the Cougars a 4-2 lead. Each
team netted three goals in the second period as Kean led 7-5 at the
half.
Gillar and Scott Leathem (Fair Lawn,
N.J.) led a nine-goal Cougar outburst in the third quarter
with two markers apiece. The Cougars outscored Stockton, 9-1,
in the period for a commanding 16-6 lead on their way to the 18-8
win.
Kean returns to action on Wednesday, April 16th as
they host Farmingdale State in a Skyline match at 7 p.m.
