Cougars Shutout SUNY New Paltz,
6-0
Union, N.J. (9/13/08) - Senior Stephanie Cirino
(Warminster, Pa.) recorded a hat-trick as Kean University
posted their first shutout of the season defeating visiting SUNY
New Paltz, 6-0, Saturday afternoon at Kean Alumni Stadium.
Sophomore keeper Ashlie Berghold (Boyertown,
Pa.) recorded four saves in her first shutout of the year
as KU improved to 3-2 overall. The Hawks fell to 1-3 with the
loss.
The Cougars wasted little time as Cirino scored her first goal
of the match off an assist from freshman Lauren Kusik
(Randolph, N.J.) in the 9th minute of
action. KU would go on to score two more in the first half as
Kusik (pictured right) recorded a goal of her own off an assist
from Amie Hoch (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J.) and Cirino
tapped in her second of the afternoon with help from senior
Katie McGee (Cherry Hill, N.J.).
The Cougars pounded out three more second half goals as Kean
outshot the Hawks, 25-5 overall in the contest.
Kean returns to action when they take on Philadelphia Biblical
University on Tuesday, September 16th at 4 p.m.
