Field Hockey Cruises in Shutout

LANGHORNE, Pa. (9/16/08) - Junior
Brittany Gibbs (West Deptford, N.J.) and senior
Stephanie Cirino (Warminster, Pa.) combined for
four goals and three assists to lead the Kean University field
hockey team to a 7-0 victory over host Philadelphia Biblical
University in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon.
Gibbs (pictured right) scored twice and added two assists for
the Cougars (4-2), while Cirino tallied two goals and an assist in
Kean's second straight victory.
Kean built the 7-0 lead by halftime and held a 31-8 advantage in
shots and 16-4 edge in penalty corners, scoring four times off the
corners.
Also scoring goals for Kean were sophomores Amie Hoch
(Egg Harbor Twp., N.J.), Kelly Mataya (West
Paterson, N.J.) and Erica Kelly (West Deptford,
N.J.), while Kelly and senior Katie McGee (Cherry
Hill, N.J.) added assists.
In goal, sophomore Lauren Dobbs (Palmyra, N.J.)
made three second-half saves.
Kean returns to action on Friday, September 19, hosting
Manhattanville College in non-conference action at 7:00 p.m.
