Cougars Hold Off Manhattanville,
2-1
Union, N.J. (9/13/08) - Senior Amanda
Pitts (Rahway, N.J.) netted two second half goals to
propel Kean University past visiting Manhattanville College, 2-1,
Saturday evening at Kean Alumni Stadium.
With the win the Cougars improve to 4-1 while the Valiants drop to
2-4.
After a scoreless first half of action that saw just six
combined shots, Pitts responded quickly after the break notching
the match's first goal at 46:06 off a cross from senior
Nicole Tahan (Clifton, N.J.) (pictured right).
It didn't take long for the Valiants to respond and tie
things up as junior Bailey Flood (South Lake Tahoe,
Calif.) took a pass from Kathryn Moore (Pearl
River, N.J.) in the 53rd minute. KU took
the lead for good as Pitts broke through off an assist from
freshman Jillian Raider (Hamilton, N.J.) up the
middle at 56:10.
Manhattanville keeper Ali Bromson (Suffield,
Conn.) recorded five saves while Kean goalkeeper
Nicole Grosew (Denville, N.J.) had none as the
Cougar defense held things in check.
Kean returns to action on Saturday, September 20th
when they travel to The College of New Jersey to open up New Jersey
Athletic Conference (NJAC) action.
