Cougars Fall to Top-Ranked TCNJ,

(9/20/08) - The Kean University women's soccer
team fell to top-ranked The College of New Jersey, 3-0, in the New
Jersey Athletic Conference opener on Saturday
afternoon.
The Lions (5-1-0, 1-0-0 NJAC) scored three goals in the opening
half to snap the Cougars' (4-2) three-game winning streak, as the
win also kept the Lions unbeaten in their last 37 conference games,
going 35-0-2 in the span.
For Kean, sophomore Leandra Russo (Galloway,
N.J.) made 12 saves for the Cougars.
TCNJ took the 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when senior
Jamie Kunkle (Mount Laurel, N.J.) scored off the pass from
senior Erin Cunliffe (Lakewood, N.J.). The Lions
added the insurance goals in the 21st and
43rd minutes to win the conference opener.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, September 24, when
they travel to New Jersey City University for a conference game at
4 p.m.
