Esposito Records Hat Trick as
Women's Soccer Blanks NJCU, 7-0

Danielle Esposito (Holmdel, N.J.) picked up her
first career hat-trick as Kean University shutout host New Jersey
City University, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon.
Kean improves to 5-2 overall as they record their first New
Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) win of the season to stand at
1-1. With the loss NJCU falls to 6-2 overall and 0-2 in NJAC
action.
The match was held in check in the first half as Kean held just
a 1-0 advantage after 45 minutes of action. Senior
Nicole Tahan (Clifton, N.J.) scored what would be
the game-winner in the 27th minute off an assist from junior Jenna
Godwin (Kingwood, N.J.).
The Cougars surged through the second half tallying the final
six goals of the afternoon, including five goals in a nine minute
span, as Esposito connected on three goals and junior Kayla
Duncan (Edison, N.J.) recorded three points with a goal
and an assist. Sophomore Randi Vizoco (Erial,
N.J.) and senior Amanda Pitts (Rahway,
N.J.) rounded out the scoring action in the win.
Goalkeepers Leandra Russo (Galloway, N.J.) and
Nicole Groszew (Denville, N.J.) each recorded one
save in the victory.
Kean returns to NJAC play on Saturday, September 27th
as they host Rutgers-Camden at 7 p.m.
