Field Hockey Falls in Overtime,
2-1
MADISON, N.J. (9/3/08) - The
Fairleigh Dicksinson University-College at Florham defeated Kean
University, 2-1, in overtime in non-conference field hockey action
on Wednesday evening.
Sophomore Laura Core (Mullica Hill, N.J.) scored on a
penalty stroke with 2:07 remaining in overtime for the Devils
(3-0).
For the Cougars (1-1), sophomore goalkeeper Ashlie
Berghold (Boyertown, Pa.) stopped six shots.
Trailing 1-0 partway through the opening half, junior
Brittany Gibbs (West Deptford, N.J.) (pictured
left) scored off the pass from sophomore Amie Hoch (Egg
Harbor Twp., N.J.) with just under 10 minutes remaining in
the opening half.
The Cougars held a 20-14 advantage in penalty corners, while
FDU-Florham had a 14-11 edge in shots.
Kean returns to action on Saturday, September 6, when they host
Stevens Institute of Technology in non-conference action at 1 p.m.
