Women's Hoops Cruises Past NJCU,

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (1/17/09) - Junior guard
Cardiss Jackman (Tobyhanna, Pa.) scored a
team-high 17 points to lead five players in double figures, as the
Kean University women's basketball team cruised past New Jersey
City University, 93-46, in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on
Saturday afternoon.
The 24th-ranked Cougars (13-3, 6-0 NJAC) shot 53.0
percent from the floor for the game (35-
of-66). Freshman guard Lashawn Overton (Jersey City,
N.J.) scored a game-high 21 points for the Gothic Knights
(4-11, 1-4 NJAC).
The Cougars shot a blistering 63.6 percent (21-of-33) from the
floor in the first half to take a 50-30 lead at halftime.
Kean had a 12-0 run early and later followed with a 15-0 spurt to
break the game open.
Sophomore forward Tiffany Patrick (Piscataway,
N.J.) had 11 first-half points, while Jackman (pictured
right) chipped in with nine points for the Cougars. Overton
paced the Gothic Knights with eight points, as the Cougars limited
NJCU to just 7-of-32 shooting (21.9 percent).
In the second-half, the Cougars used a 13-3 run to extend the
lead to as many as 49 points en-route to the 47-point victory and
the Cougars scored more than 90 points for the second-straight
game.
Patrick finished with a double-double, posting 15 points, 11
rebounds, three blocks and three steals.
Also in double-figures for the Cougars, junior forward
Danielle Brown (North Brunswick, N.J.) hit
all four of her field goals en-route to 12 points, while junior
Olivia Triano (Keyport, N.J.) and sophomore
Angelica Bermudez (Belleville, N.J.) each came off
the bench to score 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Senior guard Ebony Jackson (Newark, N.J.)
posted nine points and eight assists.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, January 21, when they
travel to Baruch College in a non-conference match-up at 7 p.m.
