Men's Soccer Battles Old Westbury
to Scoreless Tie
UNION, N.J. (10/10/09) - The Kean University
men's soccer team battle SUNY College at Old Westbury to a 0-0 tie
in non-conference action on Saturday evening.
It was the fifth double-overtime game this season for the Cougars
(5-5-3), who held a 27-15 advantage in shots over Old Westbury
(7-5-1).
The Cougars appeared to score with less than two minutes
remaining in the game, however the goal was called off following
the offsides call.
Kean goalkeeper Brian Haines (Ridgefield Park,
N.J.) (pictured right) kept the Panthers off the
scoreboard in double overtime, when he made the save on a shot by
sophomore German Parodis (Mar del Plata, Argentina) with
less than a minute remaining.
For the game, Panther goalkeeper William Montenegro (Brentwood,
N.Y.) made 16 saves, while Haines finished with five stops.
The Cougars, who are in the midst of a four straight home games,
return to action on Monday, October 12, when they host Eastern
Connecticut State University in non-conference action at 6 p.m.
