Rutgers-Newark Edges Kean in
Double-Overtime, 1-0

Chiara (Jamesburg, N.J.) headed in the game-winner with just
17 seconds left in double-overtime as Rutgers-Newark edged Kean
University, 1-0, Saturday afternoon in NJAC action.
Chiara took a pass from sophomore Mike Trenard (Northfield,
N.J.) and headed the ball into the back of the net to give the
Scarlet Raiders their third NJAC win this season as their record
stands at 3-2-2 and 9-3-4 overall. The loss gives Kean a
6-7-3 mark and a 1-5-1 conference record.
The double-overtime match was the sixth for the Cougars and
seventh for Rutgers-Newark this season.
Both teams were evenly matched as both attempted 14 shots.
Kean held a 9-4 advantage in corner opportunities.
Junior Alfredo Oquendo (North Plainfield, N.J.)
stopped five shots for Kean while junior Matt Zielyk (West
Orange, N.J.) recorded four in the shutout win.
Kean travels to take on Eastern University in non-conference
action on Wednesday, October 21st.
