Cougars Shutout DeSales, 3-0
Union, N.J. (2/26/09) - Seniors Colin Feneis
(Spotswood, N.J.) and Brandon Aich (Sayreville,
N.J.) combined for Kean's first shutout of the season as
the #4/7 Cougars defeated DeSales University, 3-0, Thursday
afternoon at Jim Hynes Stadium.
Feneis (1-0) (pictured right) tossed seven innings striking out
seven and walking two to earn his first win of the 2009
season. Aich picked up his second save of the year after
throwing two innings allowing just one hit and fanning three.
KU (4-0) pushed across the only run they would need in the
bottom of the second as junior Michael Diaz (Westfield,
N.J.) grounded out with the bases loaded to score
Jared Orgel (East Hanover, N.J.) who reached on a
leadoff single.
Junior Nick Nolan (Linden, N.J.) added some
insurance in the bottom of the third with his second homerun of the
season, a two-run blast that scored rookie Lee Cavico
(North Brunswick, N.J.) who led off the inning with a
walk.
Nolan (pictured left) was 2-for-3 with a homerun and double.
For DeSales (1-1), senior Chris Brian (Oak Ridge, N.J.)
suffered the loss. Brian (0-1) allowed three runs, all
earned, in five innings of work. He also struck out four and
walked three.
Kean returns to their 11 game home slate on Tuesday, March
3rd when they face Delaware Valley College at 3 p.m.
