Cougars Cruise Past Keystone,
9-4
Union, N.J. (3/22/09) - Junior Joe Bartlinski
(South Amboy, N.J.) struck out twelve to earn his third
win of the season as #8 Kean University defeated visiting Keystone
College, 9-4.
Bartlinski (3-1) tossed eight innings, allowing eight hits and
four runs in addition to his 12 strikeouts. With the win Kean
improves to 13-4 overall, while the loss drops Keystone to 12-4
this season.
Keystone took their only lead of the game in the top of the
first as Ray
Jackson (Lewes, Del.) scored on a sacrifice fly. Kean
jumped right back, plating three in the bottom of the first.
Freshman Lee Cavico (North Brunswick, N.J.) lined
a double to left center while rookie Nick Ramagli (Emerson,
N.J.) followed right behind with an RBI single.
After the Giants closed to within 3-2, the Cougars put the game
away with another three-spot in the bottom of the sixth.
Pinch-hitter Kyle Walker (Piscataway, N.J.)
launched a three-run homerun to left centerfield to score Cavico
and Ramagli (pictured right), who both reached on walks.
Walker (pictured left) was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and
three RBI while Ramagli was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Cavico was
1-for-2 with two RBI, two runs scored and two walks.
Kean heads to the road to face Farmingdale State College on
Tuesday, March 24th at 3 p.m.
