Men's Lax Cruises Past Centenary,
16-3
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (3/24/09) - Senior attack
Eric Gillar (Milltown, N.J.) had seven assists and
junior midfielder Anthony Bertucci (Edison, N.J.)
scored four goals to lead the Kean University men's lacrosse team
to a 16-3 victory over host Centenary College on Tuesday afternoon.
Junior goalkeeper John Gesumaria (Cranford,
N.J.) made 10 saves for the Cougars (5-3), while senior
Matt Biringer (Brick, N.J.) scored twice for the Cyclones
(1-4).
The Cougars scored the first six goals of the game en-route to
taking a 7-1 lead at halftime.
Bertucci (pictured right) scored twice in the third quarter, as
the Cougars extended the lead to 11-2. The Cougars outscored
Centenary 5-1 in the fourth quarter to seal the 13-goal victory.
Kean, who won 17-of-21 faceoffs, held a 43-22 advantage in shots
to win their fifth game of the season.
Bertucci also picked up a team-high seven groundballs in the
win.
Kean returns to action on Saturday, March 28, when they face The
College at Brockport at Noon.
