Albright Gets Past Kean, 6-0
Union, N.J. (3/7/09) - Junior Casey Lawrence
(McSherrystown, Pa.) tossed a complete game shutout
as Albright College handed #4 Kean their first loss of the season
by a final of 6-0 at Jim Hynes Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The win improves Albright to 3-0 this season while the loss
drops the Cougars to 5-1.
Albright tacked on single runs in the second and fifth innings.
Kevin Butler (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) knocked in what
would be the winning run on an RBI single in the second. The
Lions put things away in their half of the eighth with four runs on
five hits. Lawrence and Jason Dunkelberger (Shillington,
Pa.) recorded back-to-back RBI doubles in the frame.
For the Cougars southpaw Nick Cesare (South Plainfield,
N.J.) suffered the loss. Cesare (0-1) allowed four
runs, three earned, in seven innings of work. For the Lions,
Lawrence (2-0) allowed just six hits while fanning one and walking
no one.
Offensively for Kean, junior Mike Moceri (Yardville,
N.J.) (pictured right) had two hits.
