Leathem Nets Game-Winner In OT
Farmingdale, N.Y. (4/11/09) - Junior
Scott Leathem (Fair Lawn, N.J.) scored the
game-winner in overtime as Kean University defeated Farmingdale
State University in Skyline action, 11-10, Saturday afternoon.
After Farmingdale (3-9, 0-3 Skyline) got on the board with the
match's first goal, Kean quickly tied things up and took the lead
for the remainder of the first half, entering the break with a 6-2
lead.
Senior C.J. Gannon (Morris Plains, N.J.)
contributed two goals and two assists in the first 30 minutes of
action.
The Cougars (8-5, 1-2 Skyline) increased their lead to as many
as five as Gannon (pictured right) provided an unassisted goal with
12:15 to go in the fourth quarter. But the Rams then took
control and recorded five straight goals, including three in the
final 1:20 to force the match into overtime.
Leathem then gave the Cougars the win with a goal just 47
seconds into the overtime period off an assist from Gannon.
Leathem finished with four goals while Gannon added three goals
and three assists.
Junior John Gesumaria (Cranford, N.J.) tallied
18 saves in the win.
