Kean Edges Ramapo, 15-13
Mahwah, N.J. (4/15/09) - Sophomore Amanda South
(Fairless, Pa.) notched a career-high nine goals as Kean
University defeated Ramapo College, 15-13, Wednesday afternoon.
The win applies to both the New Jersey Athletic Conference
(NJAC) and Skyline Conference improving Kean's record to 6-7
overall, 1-2 NJAC, 4-0 Skyline. Ramapo falls to 2-8 overall,
0-2 NJAC and 1-3 Skyline.
It was a see-saw affair for most of the contest, with Ramapo
leading by as many as four in the first half of action. After
the Roadrunners scored six straight goals, Kean responded and
closed out the half with four straight of their own, knotting the
match at seven all. Senior Stephanie Cirino
(Warminster, Pa.) tallied the first two goals, while South
(pictured right) added the final two to close out the first 30
minutes.
Both teams then battled back and forth, tying for the last time at
12 all with 16:58 to go in the second half. Freshman
Nicole Torre (Toms River, N.J.) (pictured left)
gave KU the lead for good with an unassisted goal at 16:46.
South then added insurance with two more goals before closing out
the match.
Cirino finished with three goals while sophomore Erica
Kelly (West Deptford, N.J.) added a goal and an assist.
