Baseball Sweeps Twinbill Against
Rutgers-Camden

Cavico (North Brunswick, N.J.) was a combined 5-for-7 with
three doubles as #5/12 Kean University swept visiting Rutgers
University-Camden, 10-4 and 14-4, Saturday afternoon at Jim Hynes
Stadium.
Freshman Nick Ramagli (Emerson, N.J.) was a
combined 4-for-5 with four RBI as Kean improved to 26-7 overall and
10-3 in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). With
today's losses, Rutgers-Camden falls to 9-22 and 4-10 in the NJAC.
Game
One
Kean got on top with five runs in the first two innings of
action. In the first inning, the Cougars recorded four
straight hits to open the frame. Freshman Ryan
Gibbons (Glen Rock, N.J.) started things off with a double
and junior Michael Diaz (Westfield, N.J.) followed
with an RBI triple. Junior Mike Moceri (Yardville,
N.J.) then delivered an RBI single.
In the second, Cavico hit an RBI double while junior
Dave Zavistoski (Edison, N.J.) followed with an
RBI single. Later in the inning, Moceri (pictured right)
added another RBI single.
The Scarlet-Raptors added two of their own in the top of the
third. Sophomore Dennis Hill (Pilesgrove, N.J.)
collected an RBI groundout while senior Dean Straga (Mullica
Hill, N.J.) added an RBI single.
Kean put the game out of reach with two runs in the sixth and two
in the seventh. Sophomore Gabe Ramirez (North Bergen,
N.J.) recorded an inside-the-park homerun in the sixth
while junior Kyle Walker (Piscataway, N.J.) added
an RBI double in the seventh.
Junior Joe Bartlinski (South Amboy, N.J.)
(pictured left) earned the complete game win. Bartlinski
(5-2) allowed four runs, three earned and five hits. He
struck out eight and walked two.
Junior Cory Downham (Pitman, N.J.) suffered the
loss. Downham (2-4) allowed five runs and eight hits in two
innings.
Moceri was 3-for-5 with two RBI and Cavico was 3-for-4 with two
RBI and two runs scored. Junior Dan Stuhlemmer
(Collingswood, N.J.) was 2-for-4 for RUC.
Game
Two
It was Rutgers-Camden who jumped on board first in the nightcap
as Straga provided an RBI groundout and junior Kyle Ballay
(Delran, N.J.) added an RBI single up the middle in the first
inning.
KU pulled within one in their half of the second as Ramagli
recorded an RBI double.
The Cougars then took the lead for good in the third, plating five
runs. Freshman Dylan Laguna (Edison, N.J.)
collected an RBI single. Later in the inning, Gibbons
registered an RBI single through the left side. With the
bases loaded, Ramagli tallied an RBI as he was
hit-by-a-pitch. Freshman D.J. Breckenridge (Fair
Haven, N.J.) rounded out the scoring with a two RBI single
through the right side.
Senior Colin Feneis (Spotswood, N.J.) earned
the win. Feneis (3-1) allowed two runs and four hits in seven
innings of work. He fanned nine and walked five.
Senior Damien Wright (Millville, N.J.) suffered the
loss. Wright (1-2) allowed 11 runs, nine earned, in five and
a third innings.
Offensively, Ramagli (pictured right) recorded his first
collegiate homerun as he was 4-for-4 with four RBI. Cavico
finished game two with a 2-for-3 performance, homerun, and three
runs scored. Ballay was 2-for-5 for the Scarlet Raptors.
