Baseball Takes Second Straight

Mahwah, N.J. (4/19/09) - Junior Mike Moceri
(Yardville, N.J.) was 5-for-8 with six RBI as #5/12 Kean
University swept their second straight twinbill, 11-3 & 13-3,
Sunday afternoon at Jeff Maund Field.
The doubleheader was originally scheduled for Saturday, April
11th, but was postponed due to inclement weather.
With the wins, Kean improves to 28-7 overall and 12-3 in the
NJAC while the losses drop Ramapo to 16-15 and 6-7 in conference
action.
Game One
Senior Tim Gaven (Union, N.J.) got Ramapo on the board
with an RBI single in the second
inning. Kean would take the lead for good, and for the
remainder of the afternoon, after plating two runs in the top of
the fourth. With two outs, catcher Mike Manganiello
(Berkeley Heights, N.J.) reached on a miscue by the first
baseman, which scored Kyle Walker (Piscataway,
N.J.) and Dylan Laguna (Edison, N.J.).
KU would go on to score in each of the next four innings,
including three runs in the seventh. Walker recorded an RBI
single scoring Moceri, who reached on a leadoff single.
Manganiello rounded out the scoring with a two out, two RBI single.
Rookie southpaw Ryan Zamorsky (Branchburg,
N.J.) earned the win. Zamorsky (5-1) (pictured left)
allowed three runs, two earned, and seven hits in seven
innings. Senior Drew Campbell (Hillsborough,
N.J.) tossed two shutout innings in relief.
Offensively, Manganiello was 3-for-4 with three RBI while Laguna
was 3-for-5 with two RBI. Walker was 2-for-3 with two RBI and
two runs scored.
Game
Two
The Cougars kept right on track and notched three runs in the top
of the first. Walker got things going with a two RBI single
while freshman Lee Cavico (North Brunswick, N.J.)
later followed with an RBI sacrifice fly.
The Roadrunners closed the gap to 3-2 with single runs in the
second and fourth, but Kean put the game out of reach with six runs
in the top of the sixth. Manganiello (pictured right)
recorded a two RBI single while Moceri added a two RBI double.
Reliever Brandon Aich (Sayreville, N.J.) picked
up the win. Aich (2-0) tossed five innings allowing one
unearned run and just three hits.
Moceri, riding a 16 game hittimg streak, was 4-for-5 with
five RBI, including two doubles while freshman Nick Ramagli
(Emerson, N.J.) was 1-for-4 with two walks and three runs
scored.
