Mike Moceri (Yardville, N.J.) drove in four as
#5/12 Kean University defeated The College of Staten Island, 5-1,
Tuesday afternoon at the CSI Baseball Complex.
Moceri was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a sacrifice fly as Kean
improved to 21-6 overall. The loss drops CSI to 10-9 this
season.
The Cougars used single runs in the first, third and fifth
innings. In the first and third, junior Mike Diaz
(Westfield, N.J.) (pictured right) reached on a single and
walk, respectively, and Moceri doubled him home each time. In
the fifth inning, freshman D.J. Breckenridge (Fair Haven,
N.J.) reached on a single and later scored on Moceri's
sacrifice fly. Kean plated two in the sixth inning as
pinch-hitter Kyle Walker (Piscataway, N.J.) hit a
bases-loaded RBI single and Moceri later added an RBI single of his
own.
Staten Island native, Joe Rizzo earned the win in
relief. Rizzo (1-0) (pictured left) allowed just three hits
in five innings while recording a career-high ten strikeouts.
Diaz was 2-for-2 with two runs scored in the win.
Kean returns to NJAC action on Thursday, April 9th
when they travel to Montclair State University.
