First Half Propels Men's Soccer Past

UNION, N.J. (9/1/09) - Rookies Kharee
Winslow (Piscataway, N.J.) and Tiago Goetzke
(Curitiba, Brazil) scored the first two goals of the game
just 17 seconds apart to lead the Kean University men's soccer team
to a season-opening 3-0 victory over Albright College
on Tuesday evening.
Winslow (pictured right) netted his first career goal and the
first goal of the game at the 15:32 mark for the 1-0 lead, taking
the assist from sophomore Erick Solis (Summit,
N.J.) for the breakaway goal.
The Cougars immediately got the ball back and Goetzke beat a
defender and went in unassisted just 17 seconds later to give the
Cougars the early 2-0 lead less than 16 minutes into the contest.
Kean tacked on the third goal of the game four minutes later
when sophomore Joe Brisindi (Old Bridge, N.J.)
scored off the assist from junior Adam Bajek (Clifton,
N.J.).
The Cougars held a 16-4 advantage in shots and a slight 3-2 edge
in corner kicks. In goal, junior Alfredo Oquendo
(North Plainfield, N.J.) made one save in70 minutes of
action.
For Albright, rookie Steve Pyle (Cherry Hill, N.J.)
made two saves, while sophomore Billy Howard (Unionville,
Pa.) stopped one shot.
The Cougars travel to Newport News, Va., on Friday, September 4,
for the VCAM/CNU Classic, where they face Virginia Wesleyan at 5
p.m.
