Godwin Sends Kean Past
Rutgers-Camden, 1-0
Camden, N.J. (9/26/09) - Senior Jenna
Godwin (Kingswood, N.J.) notched the game-winner for the
Kean's women's soccer team as the Cougars defeated host
Rutgers-Camden, 1-0, Saturday evening at a rainy Camden Community
Park.
With the win the Cougars are now 4-3-2 overall and 2-1 in the New
Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC). Rutgers-Camden falls to
3-6-1 and 0-2-1 in conference action.
The Cougars scored the game's only goal following a corner kick,
when Godwin (pictured right) picked up a loose ball from inside the
box and struck a high shot over Rutgers-Camden junior goalie
Vanessa Maia (Union, N.J.) and under the crossbar. It was
her second goal of the season and first game-winning tally.
Kean out-shot the Lady Raptors, 22-4, and held an 8-3 advantage
in corner kicks.
Junior keeper Leandra Russo (Galloway, N.J.)
needed to make only one save to record her third shutout of the
season. Maia made six saves in the opening half for the
Raptors, while senior Jessica Leoni (Blackwood, N.J.)
played goalie in the second half and made five saves.
