MONTCLAIR, N.J. (10/13/10) – The Kean
University women's soccer team battled rival Montclair State
University to a 1-1 double overtime tie in New Jersey Athletic
Conference action on Wednesday evening.
The Cougars (8-2-4, 2-1-3 NJAC) held a slight 13-12 edge in shots,
while Montclair State (5-5-3, 2-3-1 NJAC) had a 6-3 advantage in
corner kicks.
Late in the first half, Kean took a 1-0 lead when sophomore
Teghan Pecherski (pictured right) netted the
unassisted goal with just 1:12 remaining in the first half.
The Red Hawks quickly tied the game in the second half, as
Alyssa Diacheysn scored off the assist from Rachel
Senyszyn less than 10 minutes into the second half.
The game would remain scoreless the rest of the way, with the
Cougars battling the final 53 minutes a player down.
Kean goalkeeper Leandra Russo stopped three
shots, while Montclair State goalie Marisa Zayac made five
saves.
The Cougars return to action on Saturday, October 16, when they
travel to The College of New Jersey for a NJAC game at 1 p.m.
