Men's Soccer Falls to Rowan, 3-2

GLASSBORO, N.J. (10/22/10) – Rowan University back Lou Buonocore scored with less than 10 minutes remaining to lift the host Profs to a 3-2 win over Kean University in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Friday evening.

The Cougars (8-8-2, 4-4 NJAC) took a 1-0 lead early in the game, when sophomore Tiago Goetzke scored just 5:50 into the game off the assist from sophomore Kharee Winslow.

Rowan (5-11-2, 2-6 NJAC) tied the game less than six minutes later on the goal by sophomore Ryan Gordon, who sent the ball into the right side of the net off the double assist from Buonocore and midfielder Shane Dooley.

The game remained tied until midway through the second half, as the Profs took a 2-1 lead on the header from Julian Berrios in the 65th minute.  Just 51 seconds later the Cougars tied the game when Winslow (pictured right) netted the unassisted goal.

With just 9:30 left, Buonocore took the shot from 35 yards out on the left side of the field that sailed over Kean goalkeeper Alfredo Oquendo and into the back right corner of the net for the game-winner.

Oquendo made two saves for the Cougars, as Rowan held a slight 13-11 edge in shots.  Rowan goalkeeper Charlie Cunliffe made four saves.

The Cougars host University of Rochester in non-conference action on Sunday, October 24, at the East Campus Soccer Field at 1 p.m.
