GLASSBORO, N.J. (10/22/10) – Rowan
University back Lou Buonocore scored with less than 10
minutes remaining to lift the host Profs to a 3-2 win over Kean
University in New Jersey Athletic Conference action on Friday
evening.
The Cougars (8-8-2, 4-4 NJAC) took a 1-0 lead early in the game,
when sophomore Tiago Goetzke scored just 5:50 into
the game off the assist from sophomore Kharee
Winslow.
Rowan (5-11-2, 2-6 NJAC) tied the game less than six minutes
later on the goal by sophomore Ryan Gordon, who sent the
ball into the right side of the net off the double assist from
Buonocore and midfielder Shane Dooley.
The game remained tied until midway through the second half, as
the Profs took a 2-1 lead on the header from Julian
Berrios in the 65th minute. Just 51 seconds
later the Cougars tied the game when Winslow (pictured right)
netted the unassisted goal.
With just 9:30 left, Buonocore took the shot from 35 yards out
on the left side of the field that sailed over Kean goalkeeper
Alfredo Oquendo and into the back right corner of
the net for the game-winner.
Oquendo made two saves for the Cougars, as Rowan held a slight
13-11 edge in shots. Rowan goalkeeper Charlie
Cunliffe made four saves.
The Cougars host University of Rochester in non-conference
action on Sunday, October 24, at the East Campus Soccer Field at 1
p.m.
