Newark, N.J. (10/6/10) – Sophomore
Tiago Goetzke recorded his sixth game-winner of
the season as the Kean University men's soccer team defeated
Rutgers-Newark, 1-0, Wednesday evening.
In a match originally scheduled for September 22nd,
Goetzke scored the match's lone goal in the 61st
minute. Goetzke (pictured right) took a through pass and
after a loss ball beat the charging Newark keeper.
With the win the Cougars improve to 4-1 in NJAC action and 7-4-1
overall.
Freshman Tyler Callahan made seven saves for
Kean in the win.
The Cougars and Scarlet Raiders were evenly matched with 17
shots a piece, with Kean holding a 7-2 advantage in corner
kicks.
Kean returns to their tough week of competition on the road as
they travel to SUNY College at Old Westbury for a Friday
matchup.
