Goetzke Lifts Kean with Seventh Game-Winner

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (10/8/10) – For the seventh time this season, sophomore Tiago Goetzke netted the game winning goal, as the Kean University men's soccer team rallied past host SUNY Old Westbury, 2-1, in double overtime in non-conference action on Friday afternoon.

With less than five minutes remaining in the second overtime, Goetzke scored the game-winner off the assist from sophomore Kharee Winslow to lift the Cougars (8-4-1) to their third double overtime victory of the season.

After more than 70 scoreless minutes, the Panthers (8-6) took a 1-0 lead in the 72nd minute when Hansel Riddock scored off the corner kick from German Parodis.

The Cougars would tie the game eight and half minutes later, as rookie Kevin Mayaka netted the goal off double –assist from Danny Olivo and Goetzke.

Kean, who played down a man for the final 35 minutes, held a slight 3-2 edge in shots in the first overtime, before Goetzke scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season on the Cougars' only shot needed in the second extra session.

Rookie Tyler Callahan (pictured right) made 13 saves in goal for the Cougars.

The Cougars return to action on Sunday, October 10, when they travel to Eastern Connecticut State University for a non-conference game at 6 p.m.
