Kean Pushes Past Old Westbury,
7-3
Union, N.J. (3/10/10) – Sophomore
Eddie Jennings (Jackson, N.J.) was 2-for-4 with
two doubles and two RBI to lead the #4/6 Cougars to a 7-3 victory
over SUNY College at Old Westbury on Wednesday afternoon at Jim
Hynes Stadium.
After falling behind 1-0, Kean (6-1) responded with two runs in
their half of the third. Jennings (pictured right) provided
his first double of the afternoon driving in senior Dave
Zavistoski (Edison, N.J.) who reached on a leadoff
single. Sophomore Dylan Laguna (Edison,
N.J.) later drove in Jennings for a 2-1 lead.
The Cougars put the game out of reach with three runs in the
seventh and two more in the eighth. Highlighting the offense
was a two RBI single from sophomore D.J. Breckenridge (Fair
Haven, N.J.) along with a two RBI single from freshman
Steve Nappe (Edison, N.J.).
Senior Nick Cesare (South Plainfield, N.J.)
earned the win. Cesare (1-0) threw seven and a third innings
allowing three runs, while fanning 10 and walking no one.
Senior Joseph Tarallo (South Amboy, N.J.) picked
up the save with one and two thirds innings of work with just one
hit and one strikeout.
Kean enjoys a short break as they head to Port Charlotte, Fla.
for the Snowbird Baseball Classic. They return to action on
Saturday, March 13th when they face #10 Carthage College
at 2:30 p.m.
