#10 Carthage Sweeps Kean, 10-2 and
16-4
Port Charlotte, Fla. (3/13/10) – The
10th ranked Carthage College Red Men collected a
combined 34 hits to power past #4/6 Kean University, 10-2 and 16-4,
Saturday in the Snowbird Baseball Classic in Port Charlotte,
Florida.
In a seven inning affair in game one, Carthage (5-3) jumped on
top with five runs in the bottom of the first inning off of five
hits. Kean tacked on single runs in the matchup but was not
able to overcome the early deficit.
Junior Ken Gregory (Pittstown, N.J.) was
2-for-3 with an RBI in game one.
Carthage continued in game two scoring four runs in both the
second and third innings to pull away from the Cougars (6-3).
Junior Nick Nolan (Linden, N.J.) was 2-for-3 with
an RBI while senior Dave Zavistoski
(Edison, N.J.) was 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Kean will continue in the Snowbird Classic on Sunday evening as
they face #2 The College of Wooster at 6 p.m.
