Cesare and Cougars Cruise Past
Kenyon, 18-1
Punta Gorda, Fla. (3/16/10) – Senior
Nick Cesare (South Plainfield, N.J.) tossed eight
scoreless innings as #10 Kean defeated Kenyon College, 18-1,
Tuesday afternoon in their conclusion of the 2010 Snowbird Baseball
Classic.
Cesare (2-0) allowed just six hits while fanning six to help the
Cougars improve to 8-4 this season.
For the second straight game, the Cougar offense exploded,
scoring in all frames except two. Kean plated six runs in the
second to take an early 7-0 lead. Eddie Jennings
(Jackson, N.J.) got things going with an RBI triple, one
of ten extra base hits for KU on the afternoon. Also in the
inning included an RBI single by sophomore Dylan Laguna
(Edison, N.J.), a two RBI double by senior Mike
Moceri (Yardville, N.J.) and a two run blast by sophomore
Lee Cavico (North Brunswick, N.J.).
Kean continued with their offense and built a 12-0 lead after
the fifth as Moceri recorded his second homerun of the season, a
two run shot. That would be all the offense Kean would need
to cruise to the victory.
Offensively Moceri was 3-for-4 with four RBI while Laguna was
3-for-4 with three runs scored. Senior Dave
Zavistoski (Edison, N.J) was 3-for-4 with three RBI and
his first homerun of the season. Continuing the long ball
trend, junior Nick Nolan (Linden, N.J.) hit his
third of the year, a solo shot.
Kean concludes their trip to Florida and will play Keystone
College on Sunday.
