Cortland Overwhelms Kean, 16-1
UNION, N.J. (3/17/10) - SUNY Cortland's
Mike Tota (Webster, N.Y.) scored four goals and
Chris DeLuca (Sayville, N.Y.) had three
goals and added one assist to lead the Red Dragons to a 16-1
victory over Kean University, on Wednesday evening. With the win,
Cortland improves to 2-2, while the Cougars even their record at
3-3.
The Red Dragons opened up a 3-0 first quarter outshooting Kean,
11-1 in the stanza. Cortland took control of the game in the second
quarter as they tallied seven more goals. The defending national
champions increased their lead to 14-0 in the third period before
the Cougars would get on the board. Anthony Bertucci
(Edison, N.J.) took a nice feed from CJ Gannon
(Morris Plains, N.J.). However, that would be a close as
they would get as Cortland would score the last two goals of the
game in the fourth quarter.
For the Red Dragons, Brandon Misiaszak (New Hartford,
N.Y.) and Tom Burke (Massapequa, N.Y.) each added two
goals apiece.
Cortland out shot Kean 45-14 in the win and the Red Dragons also
won 17-of-21 face off's. Cougar goalie John Gesumaria
(Cranford, N.J.) made 14 saves in the loss.
