Brockport Edges Kean, 7-6
Union, N.J. (3/20/10) – Junior Andy
Hilton (Rochester, N.Y.) scored the winning goal with just
over seven minutes remaining in the fourth period to give the
College at Brockport a 7-6 win over Kean in men's lacrosse
action Saturday afternoon at Kean Alumni Stadium.
It was a see-saw affair throughout, with no team winning by more
than two goals at any point in the match. Kean (3-4) took
their first lead of the match in the third period as senior
C.J. Gannon (Morris Plains, N.J.) took a feed from
junior J.R. Glita (Wayne, N.J.) to put KU ahead,
5-4. The Golden Eagles (3-1) would tie things up with 30
seconds to go in the third period and quickly went ahead, 6-5, off
the opening faceoff for the fourth period. Just over a minute
later, senior Anthony Bertucci (Edison, N.J.) tied
things up for the Cougars off a pass from Jazimar Bailey
(Hoboken, N.J.) (pictured right). But that would be
as close as Kean would get, as Hilton scored what would be the
game-winner with just over seven minutes to go in the match.
Kean held a 40-23 overall advantage in shots as well as a slight
26-23 edge in groundballs. The KU offense scattered the goals
this afternoon as seven different Cougars found the back of the
net.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday evening when they face
Centenary College at 7 p.m.
