Women's Lax Opens Skyline With Win
Over Mount Saint Mary
NEWBURGH, N.Y. (3/21/10) – Senior
Chelsea Davis (Livingston, N.J.) scored six goals
and had an assist to lead the Kean University women's
lacrosse team to a 17-6 win over Mount Saint Mary College in the
Skyline Conference opener for both team on Sunday afternoon.
Junior Amanda South (Fairless Hills, Pa.) added
four goals for the Cougars (2-4, 1-0 Skyline), while goalkeeper
Emily Folino stopped 14 shots for Mount Saint Mary (2-3,
0-1 Skyline).
The Cougars took an early 5-2 lead on five different
goal-scorers en-route to leading 8-6 at the break.
It would be all Kean in the second half, as Davis opened the
scoring less than four minutes into the half and the Cougars would
score all nine second-half goals.
Davis also had seven groundballs, four draw controls and four
caused turnovers in the win, while freshman Lyndsey Cannon
(Delran, N.J.) had three goals, three assists, four
groundballs and three caused turnovers.
In goal, rookie Jules Keeley (Ocean Twp., N.J.)
played the final 43 minutes, making seven saves and allowing just
two goals.
The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, March 24, when they
host Ramapo College in New Jersey Athletic Conference and Skyline
Conference action at 4 p.m.
