Women's Lax Opens Skyline With Win Over Mount Saint Mary

NEWBURGH, N.Y. (3/21/10) – Senior Chelsea Davis (Livingston, N.J.) scored six goals and had an assist to lead the Kean University women's lacrosse team to a 17-6 win over Mount Saint Mary College in the Skyline Conference opener for both team on Sunday afternoon.

Junior Amanda South (Fairless Hills, Pa.) added four goals for the Cougars (2-4, 1-0 Skyline), while goalkeeper Emily Folino stopped 14 shots for Mount Saint Mary (2-3, 0-1 Skyline).

The Cougars took an early 5-2 lead on five different goal-scorers en-route to leading 8-6 at the break.

It would be all Kean in the second half, as Davis opened the scoring less than four minutes into the half and the Cougars would score all nine second-half goals.

Davis also had seven groundballs, four draw controls and four caused turnovers in the win, while freshman Lyndsey Cannon (Delran, N.J.) had three goals, three assists, four groundballs and three caused turnovers.

In goal, rookie Jules Keeley (Ocean Twp., N.J.) played the final 43 minutes, making seven saves and allowing just two goals.

The Cougars return to action on Wednesday, March 24, when they host Ramapo College in New Jersey Athletic Conference and Skyline Conference action at 4 p.m.
