Baseball Breezes Past Farmingdale,
11-2
Farmingdale, N.Y. (3/24/10) – Senior
Dave Zavistoski (Edison, N.J.) had two extra base
hits with four RBI to lead the #6/7 Kean University baseball team
to an 11-2 win over Farmingdale State College Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman Greg Baruka (Florham Park, N.J.)
(pictured right) earned his second win of the season as he tossed
five innings allowing four hits and two runs. Freshman
Billy Dumchus (Edison, N.J.) and senior
Joseph Tarallo (South Amboy, N.J.) shutout the
Rams for the final four innings allowing just one hit and four
walks, fanning six.
The Cougars (11-4) used to big innings to take control of the
game. With the score tied at one all, Kean plated five runs
in their half of the fourth to take a 6-1 lead. Sophomore
D.J. Breckenridge (Fair Haven, N.J.) recorded an
RBI single while Zavistoski added an RBI double. Senior
Mike Moceri (Yardville, N.J.) followed with a two
RBI triple and later scored on a passed ball to round out the
scoring in the frame.
After giving one back, Kean then tacked on four more in the
seventh. Highlighting the frame included an RBI single by
catcher Eddie Jennings (Jackson, N.J.) and a
bases-clearing triple by Zavistoski (pictured left).
On the afternoon, Breckenridge was 2-for-3 with an RBI while
Jennings was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. Freshman
Steve Nappe (Edison, N.J.) was also 2-for-4 with a
run scored.
Kean returns to action on Friday when they take on St.
Joseph's College-L.I. at a new time of 3:30 p.m.
