Women's Lax Breezes Past
Rutgers-Camden
CAMDEN, N.J.
(3/31/10) – The Kean University
women's lacrosse team defeated Rutgers-Camden, 16-1, in New
Jersey Athletic Conference action on Wednesday evening.
Junior Amanda South (pictured right) notched a
game-high four goals to lead the Cougars (3-5, 1-1 NJAC). For
first-year program Rutgers-Camden (2-4, 0-2 NJAC), freshman
goalkeeper Rachel Powell made five saves.
The Cougars jumped out to the early lead, scoring four
unanswered goals over the first six minutes of the contest.
Kean added eight more goals in the half, taking a 12-0 lead at the
break.
Kean netted four more goals in the second half before
Rutgers-Camden freshman Annalise Strojan tallied a goal
with just under three minutes remaining in the game.
For the Cougars, senior Chelsea Davis netted
three goals and had a pair of assists, while picking up five draw
controls and three groundballs. Junior Erica
Kelly added three goals and an assist. Rookie
Jules Keeley made 10 saves in the win.
The Cougars return to action on Friday, April 2, when they host
Bard College in Skyline Conference action at 4 p.m.
