South, Cannon Lead Kean Past Bard,

UNION, N.J. (4/2/10) – Sophomore attack
Amanda South scored a game-high six goals and had
two assists to lead the Kean University women's lacrosse team
to a 19-1 win over Bard College in Skyline Conference action on
Friday afternoon.
Rookie Lyndsey Cannon added five goals and
three assists, while senior Chelsea Davis recorded
a game-high five assists for the Cougars (4-5, 2-1 Skyline).
For the Raptors (0-4, 0-4 Skyline), junior goalkeeper Hannah
Becker made six saves.
South (pictured right) scored two of the game's first
three goals and netted half of the Cougars' first 10 goals in
the opening 15 minutes of the first half. The Cougars scored
four more goals in the half, as Cannon finished with four goals and
two assists in the opening half, while South added her two assists
and Davis had all five of her assists to lead Kean to a 14-0 lead
at halftime.
Freshman midfielder Kat Halasz opened the second
half scoring just 64 seconds into the half, before Bard got on the
board with an unassisted goal by freshman Bridget
Reddington with 21 minutes remaining. The Cougars closed
out the scoring with four more goals to post their second straight
double-digit win.
Cannon (pictured left) picked up seven draw controls, while
sophomore Katy Bednarz added two goals, three draw
controls and three caused turnovers.
The Cougars return to action on Tuesday, April 6, when they
battle Montclair State University in a New Jersey Athletic
Conference match at 7 p.m.
