Women's Lacrosse Falls to MSU,
15-4
Montclair, N.J. (4/6/10) – Senior
midfielder Morgan MacPhee (Toms River, N.J.) scored five
goals as Montclair State won their fifth straight, 15-4 over Kean
University in a Skyline/NJAC matchup on Tuesday evening.
Junior midfielder Erica Kelly (West Deptford,
N.J.) tallied a pair of goals for the Cougars, who had
their two-game winning streak halted. Kean is now 4-6 overall, 2-2
in the Skyline and 1-2 in the NJAC.
Montclair State recorded the first seven goals of the game,
jumping out to a 1-0 lead 1:18 into the contest as Lauren Adams
(Jackson, N.J.) found MacPhee in front for the first score of
the game.
Kelly put Kean on the board scoring a free-position goal with
7:46 to go, however MSU scored less than a minute later as the Red
Hawks led 9-1 at the break.
Freshman goalkeeper Jules Keeley (Ocean Township,
N.J.) made 10 saves in 40 minutes. Brittany Gibbs
(West Deptford, N.J.) had three saves in 20 minutes of
work. Joelle Vitale (Metuchen, N.J.) had three
caused turnovers for the Cougars.
The Cougars will face Rowan University in NJAC action on
Saturday, April 10th at 1 p.m.
