Men's Lacrosse Falls to Vassar,
11-8
UNION, N.J. (3/6/10) - Senior attack
C.J. Gannon (Morris Plains, N.J.) scored four
goals and added two assists, however the Kean University men's
lacrosse team fell to host Vassar College in non-conference action
on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Scott Leathem (Fair Lawn, N.J.) added a
pair of goals for the Cougars (2-2), while Vassar (1-0) was led by
Sean Murray (Wyckoff, N.J.) and Jeff Lee (Syosset,
N.Y.), who each finished with three goals in the season
opener.
Gannon (pictured right) got the Cougars on the board first,
scoring just 38 seconds into the game before Lee scored the first
three of five straight Brewer goals spanning the first and second
periods en-route to taking a 6-2 lead at halftime.
In the third period, Gannon this time scored just 36 seconds
into the period and added his fourth goal of the game just 1:38
later to pull the Cougars to within 6-4. The two teams
matched two goals apiece back-and-forth, as Kean would again pull
to within two goals at 10-8 with just 3:30 left in the game,
however the Cougars were unable to score the rest of the way.
Senior goalkeeper John Gesumaria (Cranford,
N.J.) made 10 saves in the loss, while Brewer goalkeeper
Alex Tice (Oakland, Calif.) had nine saves.
The Cougars host Mount Ida College on Saturday, March 13, at 1
p.m.
