Cougars Cruise Past Stevens,
13-3
Union, N.J. (3/8/10) - Junior Nick Nolan (Linden,
N.J.) drove in three as the #3/6 Kean University baseball
team picked up their fourth straight win, defeating Stevens
Institute of Technology, 13-3, Monday afternoon at Jim Hynes
Stadium.
Nolan (pictured right) was 2-for-4 with two doubles on the
afternoon to help Kean improve to 4-1 overall.
The Cougars jumped on board early with three runs in the bottom
of the first and another five in the bottom of the third. In
that third inning, Nolan provided a two out, two RBI double
followed by an RBI triple from freshman Steve Nappe
(Edison, N.J.). Sophomore Eddie Jennings
(Jackson, N.J.) followed with an RBI single and junior
Dave Zavistoski (Edison, N.J.) rounded out the
scoring with a bases-loaded walk.
Freshman Greg Baruka (Florham Park, N.J.) earned
his first collegiate win in his first start. Baruka (1-0)
tossed seven innings allowing three runs and five hits. He
struck out nine and walked four. Freshman Brandon
Bujnowski (Springfield, N.J.) closed out the game allowing
just one hit in two innings of work.
On the afternoon, sophomore D.J. Breckenridge (Fair
Haven, N.J.) (pictured left) was 3-for-4 with three runs
scored from his leadoff position while senior Mike Moceri
(Yardville, N.J.) was 2-for-3.
Kean returns to action on Tuesday as they face Centenary College
at 2:30 p.m.
