Men's Lacrosse Handles Farmingdale, 14-6

UNION, N.J. (4/21/10) – Senior Anthony Bertucci had three goals and two assists to lead the Kean University men's lacrosse team to a 14-6 win over Farmingdale State College in Skyline Conference action on Wednesday evening.

In the battle for second place in the Skyline, the Cougars (10-5, 4-1 Skyline) also received three goals and an assist from senior Mike Terry, while senior C.J. Gannon added two goals and an assist in the win.  For Farmingdale (10-5, 3-2 Skyline), sophomore Erick Thomson scored two goals.

The Cougars scored the only two goals of the first quarter, as Terry (10:34) and Bertucci (1:22) each netted an unassisted goal in the stanza.

Terry (pictured right) extended the lead to 3-0 less than two minutes into the second quarter, before the Rams answered with goals from sophomore Jimmy Owsinski and senior Sean Maxwell to pull to within 3-2 with 10 minutes remaining in the quarter. 

Bertucci then scored the first of eight straight Kean goals spanning the second, third and fourth quarters to extend the Cougar lead to 11-2 with 10:55 remaining in the game.  Senior Scott Leathem gave the Cougars a 5-2 lead at the break with a goal off the assist from Terry, and Gannon opened the first two minutes of the fourth quarter with back-to-back goals to break the game open.

With the Cougars leading 11-2, Farmingdale scored three of the next four goals to pull to within 12-5 with 6:26 left, however Bertucci and Terry answered with goals to extend the lead back to 14-5 before Thomson closed out the scoring as time expired. 

In the net, junior Greg Egan (pictured left) made nine saves for the Cougars, while sophomore goalkeeper Patrick Delventhal stopped 11 shots for the Rams. 

The Cougars close out the regular season at home on Saturday, April 24, when they host SUNY Maritime College at 4 p.m.
