Women's Lacrosse Falls to
Farmingdale, 19-13
Union, N.J. (4/24/10) – The
Farmingdale State women's lacrosse team used a balanced
scoring attack and defeated host Kean University, 19-13, Saturday
afternoon in Skyline Conference action.
The Rams secured the No. 3 seed for the Skyline Playoffs next
week and are now 7-6 overall, 6-2 in conference play, while Kean is
7-8 overall, 5-3 in the Skyline and is the No. 4 seed.
Freshman Emily Williams gave Farmingdale a 2-0 lead with
an unassisted goal at 28:42 and then a free position goal three
minutes later. Rookie Lyndsey Cannon got the
Cougars on the board with a free position goal a minute later for
the 2-1 score. Rams sophomore Autumn Berndt scored to make
it 3-1 and Kean's Chelsea Davis notched the next
two for Kean to tie the game at 3-3 halfway through the first half.
Freshman Ashley Tsirigotis, junior Justine
Rothar and freshman Victoria Perullo tallied the next
three goals for Farmingdale to build up a 6-3 lead, and the Rams
would lead the rest of the way to go on for the 19-13 victory.
For Kean, Davis (pictured right) scored six goals, while Cannon
finished with four goals and one assist.
Kean will host #5 the College of Mt. St. Vincent on Tuesday,
April 27th at 7:30 p.m.
