Women's Soccer Ties in NJAC Action

Union, N.J. (9/25/10) – The Kean University women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie with visiting Rutgers-Camden on Saturday evening in New Jersey Athletic Conference action at Kean Alumni Stadium.

Despite out-shooting Camden, 34-5, in 110 minutes of action, all of the match's goal scoring occurred in the first 24 minutes of play.

Rutgers-Camden (1-5-2, 0-1-2 NJAC) was able to push across the first goal of the match as Samantha Sharp scored in front of the cage off a missed clear.

Kean (6-1-2, 1-0-1 NJAC) was then able to tie the match at one all in the 23rd minute as junior Danielle Esposito (pictured right) bended the ball into the upper left hand side of the net.  The teams then battled over the next 87 minutes to force a tie.

Senior Leandra Russo had two saves while freshman Leighanna Milby had seven saves in the final 65 minutes of play.
