KEENE, N.H. (9/4/10) – The Kean
University men's soccer team fell in overtime, 3-2, to host
Keene State College in the opening round of the 2010 Xara
Classis.
Keene State sophomore Joe Senecal scored the
game-winner just 2:21 into the overtime session for the Owls
(2-0).
Junior Erick Solis (pictured right)
recorded a pair of assists for the Cougars (1-1).
The two teams battled back and forth, with the Owls getting on
the board first with less than 10 minutes remaining in the first
half, as freshman Scott Douglas gave the Owls the 1-0 lead
at the 36:27 mark. The Cougars tied the game up heading into
the break when sophomore Abner Denis took a
crossing pass from Solis with just 3:14 left in the half.
Early in the second half, the Owls regained the lead on a header
by Senecal, before the Cougars again tied the game and ultimately
forced overtime on a goal by junior Dennis Correia
in the 63rd minute.
Kean senior goalkeeper Alfredo Oquendo made
four saves.
The Cougars battle St. Joseph's College of Maine on Sunday
at noon.
