UNION, N.J. (9/4/10) – The Kean University
women's soccer team scored seven first-half goals en-route to
blanking City College of New York, 11-0, in the opening round of
the Cougar Classic at Kean Alumni Stadium on Saturday
afternoon.
The Cougars (2-0) scored three goals in a two minute span in the
opening 10 minutes of the game, as they held a 36-2 advantage in
shots over CCNY (0-2). For Kean, 10 different players scored
goals in the victory.
In the second game of the afternoon, St. Joseph's College (N.Y.)
and Muhlenberg College battled to a 0-0 double overtime tie.

Junior forward Danielle Esposito scored the
first two goals of the game on breakaways, as she opened the
scoring off the assist from Kristen Hager
(pictured right) at 6:49, before knocking in the second goal just
44 seconds later off the breakway pass from senior Samantha Ciccone.
Less than a minute later, Ciccone added her second assist when
senior Randi Vizoco netted her first goal of the
season.
Sophomore Ashley DiRocco was a part of the next
two Cougar goals, first assisting on the goal by Hager in the
15th minute before adding a goal 10 minutes later.
Sophomores Teghan Pecherski and Carly Seidel closed out the first half-scoring just 20 seconds
apart in the 32nd minute to give the Cougars the 7-0
lead.
Just 47 seconds into the second half, freshman Samantha Pittelko scored off the assist from Pecherski (pictured
left).
Sophomore Jules Burns and freshmen
Morgan Burke and Carla Vitola
each added a goal in the second half for the final goals of the
game.
For CCNY, Erika Jimenez made 11 saves.
